First of all to get started in you own home based business you will need some capitol. Make no mistake about that. That is the single biggest reason for failure in Network Marketing. People sometimes have been led to believe they can start a business for free. You have believe you are worthy of investing in. The good news is you don’t need an enormous amount, but I repeat you do need some. Obstacles are going to occur and it would be easy to quit especially when the money is running out.

I started in Network Marketing in the early nineties and i didn’t know which end was up. I saw other people who were doing the business and I knew I could do it too. I was in the restaurant business for 50 years and there was one great similarity to Network Marketing and the hospitality business-they both dealt with people, but from different angles. In the restaurant business they came to you in Networking you went to them. You would start out by talking to people you knew like relatives, friends and work associates.

In the fall of 2000 my wife and I went to Florida to see if we wanted to live there. While I was there I started working as a Night Mgr./M’aitre D at a hotel in Palm Beach. I worked nights so my wife was lonely and decided she needed a pet. She did this without my knowing. You can imagine my surprise waking up one morning and hearing barking. I said to myself that doesn’t sound like Cydne (my wife).

When I first started in Network Marketing in’91 I didn’t know my butt from my elbows. I liked what I saw and was sure if other people were doing it I could too. I was coming from the restaurant business so it was similar in the idea that both businesses dealt with people. The difference in the restaurant business they came to you. In Network Marketing you had to go to them whether it be in person, on the phone. When you ran out of names on your warm market list you bought leads.

How to become successful in Network Marketing? It’s like any other business that you would start. Find a company you would like to get started with and model their leaders. In other words do what they did to become successful. The reason that franchises like McDonald, Burger King, KFC, etc are successful is that you can order a meal in Boston and then go to San Francisco and order the exact same thing. They have a model and they use in every one of their stores without exception. that is why they are so successful.

The movie the “Secret” did very well at the box office and I contribute it to the fact that the word secret was in the title. It’s a magical word that we all bend over backwards when somebody is discussing a supposed secret. We want to be in the know.”The Law of Attraction” was the secret in the movie. You attract what you think about. Marc Anthony said it thousands of years ago. He said “you become what you think about.” Earl Nightingale said it in his recording of “Lead the Field.” he said “you become what you think about all day long.” Brian Tracy has a motivational tape based on the “Law of Attraction.”

With all the talk about health care down in the capitol you would think they would mention other ways of cutting costs. Like preventive methods and starting at an early age. Doesn’t that make sense or is that too much to ask? All you hear about is cost and the ever present pork that goes into these bills so they can get reelected and enjoy those tremendous benefits when they retire.
